Job summary

Velox Research, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Embedded Systems & Edge AI Engineer to design and optimize low-level Linux and hardware integrations for rugged, field-ready deployments in Reston, VA. The role requires on-site work with a strong focus on security and embedded platforms.

You will deploy AI/ML capabilities on offline edge devices, integrate RF/communications pipelines, and collaborate with IC clients on prototypes and operational solutions.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required and on-site Reston, VA work.
• Experience with embedded systems and Linux including kernel configuration and low-level architecture.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Bash scripting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize low-level Linux and hardware integrations, including kernel fixes, drivers, and acceleration across x86, ARM, SoC, and RISC-V.
• Deploy open-source AI/ML on rugged, offline edge devices and single-board computers.
• Integrate software-defined radios, RF, WiFi, and cellular into field-ready data pipelines.
• Collaborate with IC clients to understand requirements, build embedded prototypes, and present solutions in operational settings.
• Maintain air-gapped labs, hardware test benches, and secure network infrastructure.

Requirements

Must have:

• We require an active TS/SCI clearance and the ability to work on-site in Reston, VA.
• We need strong experience with embedded systems and Linux, including kernel configuration, package dependencies, board support packages, and low-level system architecture.
• We are looking for someone proficient in C/C++, Python, and Bash scripting.
• We expect familiarity with configuring and building applications on Linux, as well as troubleshooting kernel and hardware driver compatibility issues.
• We value hands-on experience with embedded hardware such as Arduino, NVIDIA Jetson, and Raspberry Pi.
• We want someone who stays current with open-source AI/ML tools and platforms such as GitHub, HuggingFace, and Kaggle; open-source contributions are a plus.
• We need a self-directed engineer who can research tools independently and turn technical challenges into working solutions.
• A background or awareness in defense, secure systems, or high-consequence environments is beneficial.

The pay range is $190,000 to $220,000 per year.
