Job summary

Taíno CoLAB Academy, a new public charter high school opening in New Haven, CT, seeks a Founding Director of Academics to serve as chief instructional and cultural leader. You will translate the CoLAB vision into a rigorous, joyful daily experience for students, families, and staff, partnering with the Founding Executive Director.

The role emphasizes leading a learning community, equity, and adaptive, inquiry-based strategies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Education or related field.
• Experience leading instructional leadership at K–12 level.
• Experience with inquiry-based and project-based pedagogy.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional system aligned to the 4DQLM framework.
• Design and oversee competency-based assessment and portfolios.
• Develop teacher PD calendar and coaching model.
• Manage student experience, social-emotional systems, and culture.
• Oversee partnerships with community and families.
• Collaborate with Executive Director on operational alignment.
