Job summary

BackClera is seeking a Founding Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design and build the cloud backbone of our semantic platform. This build-from-scratch role will shape our infrastructure from day one and require hands-on leadership in a greenfield environment at our San Mateo office.

You will own architecture, deploy scalable systems on AWS/GCP/Azure, define CI/CD pipelines, and implement security, monitoring, and observability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and operating cloud infrastructure in production
• Hands-on IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi
• Production Kubernetes cluster design, deployment, and management
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure networking, storage, compute, and managed services

Responsibilities

• Design and build cloud infrastructure from the ground up to power a production-grade semantic AI platform
• Own the full lifecycle of infrastructure decisions—from initial architecture through deployment and scaling
• Establish best practices, standards, and tooling in a greenfield environment
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation systems
• Implement infrastructure monitoring, observability, and logging systems
• Design and manage database infrastructure across relational and NoSQL systems at scale
