Role Overview

Compensation $400k - $550k

Co-architect the verification layer of the internet — turning $22M/yr in profitable commerce cash flow into the benchmark truth engine for frontier AI agents.

Axioms.ai (the company behind Product.ai and SimplyCodes ) is building the verification layer of the internet. While frontier labs train larger foundation models that still hallucinate under commercial pressure, we build the deterministic and adversarial verification infrastructure that proves what is actually true — starting with consumer commerce across 220+ categories and 61,000+ distilled domain axioms.

Unlike seed or Series A startups burning venture capital to search for a business model, we are 100% founder-owned, profitable, and bootstrapped since 2009, generating ~$20M+ in annual revenue from our SimplyCodes cash engine. Why This Role Exists

We operate as an AI-native laboratory where every operator works inside a shared constitutional substrate (Cortex) powered by multi-agent verification pipelines, oracle-separated adversarial models, and deterministic software gates.

We are looking for a Founding Chief AI Scientist / Principal Verification Architect — a technical peer to the CEO & Founder (Michael Quoc) with deep industry gravitas across LLM evaluation, adversarial verification, neuro-symbolic / epistemic architectures, or agentic tool-use. You will not manage a bloated org chart or sit in status meetings. Instead, you will:

• Co-Architect the Axioms.ai Truth Graph & Verification Engine: Design the epistemic physics, multi-model adversarial consensus protocols, and zero-hallucination verification gates that power our category bibles, consumer shopping intelligence (product.ai/shop), and agent MCP/API rails.
• Lead Frontier Evaluation & Benchmark Publications: Partner with Karen Spinner (Head of Applied AI Research & Technical Narrative) and Isaac Sornborger (Principal Engineer) to publish open benchmarks, failure-mode taxonomies, and technical research that establish Axioms.ai as the definitive authority on commercial AI truth.
• Act as a Talent Magnet for Frontier Builders: Help attract and evaluate the top 0.1% of AI researchers and systems engineers from OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepMind, and top academic labs who want to build real-world verification systems without big-lab bureaucracy.

What You Have Built (Proof Over Pedigree)

• Shipped Frontier AI / Verification Systems: You have architected production LLM evaluation harnesses, synthetic data/distillation pipelines, retrieval/grounding verification engines, or multi-agent reasoning systems at a frontier AI lab, elite research group, or high-velocity technical company.
• First-Principles Technical Gravitas: You have authored influential papers, open-source repositories, or technical systems that other AI engineers cite and build on — and you can explain the hardest mechanism you know to a smart generalist in two minutes without jargon.
• Player-Coach Builder DNA: You love writing code, running experiments, and pressure-testing prompts/models yourself alongside principal engineers rather than delegating from a slide deck.
• Santa Monica Studio Presence: You are based in Los Angeles (or excited to relocate to West LA / Santa Monica) to anchor our in-person builder studio at 12100 Wilshire Blvd.

• 30-Minute Founder & Research Peer Jam: Meet directly with Michael Quoc (CEO), Karen Spinner, and Isaac Sornborger to dive into your shipped research and walk through our live Cortex + Truth Graph architecture.
• 90-Minute Live Architecture Co-Design: Work a real open verification problem with us at the whiteboard / inside Cortex.
• Paid Executive Architectural Sprint (1–2 Weeks): Step into our real environment as a paid peer advisor/trialist to co-author a live verification spec and ship a production delta with the team before making a mutual long-term commitment.
