Job summary

Houston Christian University invites applications for a founding Chair of Mechanical Engineering within the College of Science and Engineering. The Chair will lead the new program, oversee faculty, labs, and ABET accreditation, and help shape strategic plans.

Reporting to the Dean, the Chair will recruit faculty, develop curriculum, collaborate across campus, and contribute to Ten Pillars vision. Start date Fall 2027 or Spring 2027; commitment to Christian mission and faith integration required.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
• Higher education teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
• Leadership experience in higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Dean and College leadership to set strategic vision for Mechanical Engineering at HCU
• Develop curriculum, degree changes, and catalog updates
• Prepare documentation for ABET accreditation
• Review program assessments and ensure timely submission of student grades
• Hire and supervise adjunct faculty; oversee labs and facilities
• Represent department across campus and engage in faith-and-learning initiatives
