Job summary

Houston Christian University seeks a founding Chair of Mechanical Engineering, starting Fall 2027 or Spring 2027. The Chair will lead the program, recruit faculty, develop labs, and drive ABET accreditation while aligning with the Ten Pillars vision.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering is required.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic vision for Mechanical Engineering at HCU and work with college leadership.
• Develop curriculum, degree changes, and course offerings; oversee ABET accreditation preparation.
• Recruit and supervise faculty; plan labs and facilities; ensure program assessments meet SACSCOC standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to advance program funding and strategic initiatives.
• Represent the department in campus meetings and maintain alignment with the Ten Pillars vision.
