Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Founding AI Engineer to own the applied AI and product build behind a privacy-focused wearable startup in San Francisco. You'll ship features end-to-end, collaborating directly with the CEO, CTO, and founding team.

Expect hands-on work across iOS (Swift) and Python, expanding the AI pipeline, memory and context systems, and integrating OpenAI API to deliver deeply personalized user experiences.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of software engineering experience (excluding internships).
• Founding or early engineering experience at a funded startup or one with meaningful ARR.
• Hands-on experience building AI agents or applied AI products, not just research or prototyping.
• Comfort working across the stack, including iOS (Swift) and Python.

Responsibilities

• Owning feature development end to end, acting as an FDE for consumer feedback and driving the solution.
• Extending the AI pipeline, adding new agent skills and memory query types.
• Building front end and back end work to ship features using Swift and Python.
• Working hands-on with the OpenAI API and the product's memory and context systems.
• Setting the technical bar for a small founding team, collaborating with the CEO, CTO and founding team.

Their product sits at the intersection of wearable technology, AI and psychology, helping users with emotional support, reflection and habit building through deeply personalised AI interactions that adapt over time. Think Oura, but for your mind. They are now looking for a Founding AI Engineer to own the applied AI and product build behind the wearable as they move from early demo to scaled consumer product.

What you''ll work on:

• Owning feature development end to end, functioning like an FDE for consumer feedback: taking requests, shaping proposals, driving the solution yourself.
• Extending the AI pipeline, adding new agent skills, and supporting new memory query types.
• Building the front end and back end work to ship each feature, using Swift and Python.
• Working hands-on with the OpenAI API and the product's memory and context systems.
• Setting the technical bar for a small, high-intensity founding team, working directly with the CEO, CTO and founding team.
