Job summary

Jewish Federation of Cleveland is seeking a Foundations and Family Philanthropy Officer to lead grantmaking across 10–15 foundations and to cultivate donors for campaigns and legacy gifts.

The role blends foundation management with development duties, requiring strategic thinking, strong communication, and deep knowledge of Jewish communal funding priorities. Reports to the Senior Director, Foundations and Family Philanthropy.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Jewish community and culture.

Responsibilities

• Foundation Manager: Manage grantmaking cycle from opportunity identification to stewardship.
• Help families evaluate grant opportunities in line with mission and priorities.
• Prepare grant materials, research, recommendations for trustees.
• Facilitate discussions for informed grantmaking decisions.
• Track grant commitments and communicate with grantees.
• Identify opportunities to deepen impact through partnerships and engagement.
• Coordinate foundation board meetings and materials.
• Maintain governing documents and policies.
• Ensure activities follow fiduciary responsibilities.
• Connect families with Federation activities and events.
• Collaborate with finance on grant payments and reporting.
• Learn donor-advised, IRA and endowment fund options.
