Job summary

Washtenaw Community College is seeking a Foundation Skills Trainer to provide tutoring support to adult learners in Michigan. This part-time role involves applying knowledge in mathematics, literacy, and technology, and requires a Bachelor’s degree along with relevant teaching certifications.

Successful candidates will engage in direct tutoring, track student progress, and utilize various technologies, including AI tools, to enhance learning outcomes. The position offers a collaborative work environment, focusing on inclusivity and support for diverse populations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. Degree and/or coursework in Developmental Education preferred.
• Current and valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or an approved Certificate under the Interstate Compact Agreement preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in college‑level Math, Literacy, and Technology.
• Experience working in small group and individual settings for adult learners.
• Experience with teaching and/or tutoring with measurable results.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring assistance to adult learners in the Foundation Skills lab.
• Assist students in resolving instructional or technical challenges.
• Foster a supportive learning environment for all age groups and backgrounds.
• Track activity within the lab and report on student success.
• Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools, in performance.
