Title: Officer of Principal Gifts, Overlook Foundation

Reports to: Director of Principal Gifts, Overlook Foundation

Position Summary: The Officer of Principal Gifts will play a critical role in Overlook Foundation's fundraising efforts by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors. This position will work closely with the Director of Principal Gifts to develop and implement strategies to secure significant philanthropic support for the hospital's mission and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Donor Research, Cultivation and Solicitation:
    • Identify and manage a portfolio of new and existing major gift prospects.
    • Develop and implement personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies along with detailed proposals for moves management for each prospect.
    • Actively move donors along the giving pipeline, identifying opportunities for increased engagement and support.
    • Conduct face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and written communications to engage potential donors.
    • Prepare and present proposals to prospective donors.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential major donors.
    • Ensure timely and appropriate follow-up with donors to enhance their engagement and commitment.
    • Collaborate with hospital leadership, board members, and volunteers to leverage their networks and support in donor cultivation.
  • Stewardship:
    • Develop and execute personalized stewardship plans to recognize and thank major donors.
    • Ensure that donors receive regular updates on the impact of their gifts.
    • Foster long-term relationships with donors
    • Plan and execute donor recognition events and activities.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Work with the Director of Principal Gifts to develop and implement a comprehensive major gifts strategy, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
    • Set and achieve annual fundraising goals for the major gifts program utilizing data and outcomes to determine campaign and appeal effectiveness.
    • Monitor and report on progress towards goals, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with the development team to integrate major gifts efforts with other fundraising initiatives.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall success of the development department.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in major gift fundraising, preferable in healthcare, with a proven track record of securing gifts of $5,000+ and other demonstrated positive outcomes with donors.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Understanding, appreciation and knowledge of the prospect/donor cycle
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, fundraising software, and Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge NXT.

This role is full time in the office Monday-Thursday and remote most Fridays.
