Job summary

The City of Alexandria, near Washington D.C., seeks a Family Services Specialist II for the Department of Community and Human Services. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Knowledge of social work principles, laws, policies and regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; training and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Interviewing/investigating cases involving abuse/neglect.
• Testifying in legal proceedings and placing children in foster/adoptive homes.
• Developing and presenting training to resource families and community groups.
• Recruitment, marketing materials and information meetings for foster parents.
• Case management of resource homes and data entry in statewide systems.
• Provide after-hours on-call support and participate in team meetings.
