Job summary

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is seeking a Homefinding Recruiter to identify and engage foster/adoptive families for children and youth in care. The role combines outreach at events, home assessments, and collaboration with NTDC/LGBTQ training curricula to certify foster homes.

The position is full-time (35 hours weekly) with a hybrid/in-field schedule based in Wading River, NY, requiring travel across Suffolk and Nassau counties. Evening and weekend work is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in child welfare with at least one year in Homefinding/foster care and/or adoption.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Attend recruitment events to connect with potential foster families.
• Perform comprehensive assessments of prospective foster/adoptive families.
• Conduct initial home visits to assess viability of foster homes.
• Become familiar with NTDC and LGBTQ training curriculum and facilitate trainings.
• Assist with fostering parent orientations in person or virtually.
• Utilize public relations and community resources to support recruitment activities.
• Participate in screening and investigation of prospective foster families.
• Assist with foster home reauthorization processes.
• Review and ensure submitted applications are complete and timely.
• Makes initial contact with prospective families within 24–48 hours of inquiry.
• Support recruitment at community events and generate agency/community interest.
• Follow up with applicants within 24–48 hours after orientations.
• Other duties as required by department director and supervisor.
