Job summary

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York seeks a Homefinding Recruiter to identify and recruit foster and adoptive parents for children and youth in care. You will support training and certification processes and collaborate with the Homefinding/Intake/Training Department to place suitable foster homes.

The role requires 35 hours per week with a hybrid/in-field schedule based in Wading River, NY, and travel across Suffolk and Nassau Counties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in the field of child welfare with at least one year experience in Homefinding/foster care and/or adoption.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.
• Ability to work as a team-player.
• Ability and skill to travel in and around the Long Island region.
• Strong networking and community relationship building skills.
• Ability to speak in public; to inspire, encourage and motivate others to become.
• Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Will travel as required within the Long Island region.

Responsibilities

• Identify and recruit foster/adoptive parents for children and youth served by foster care program.
• Attend recruitment events to connect with potential foster families.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of prospective foster/adoptive families.
• Perform initial home visits to assess viability of potential foster homes.
• Facilitate NTDC and LGBTQ trainings as needed.
• Assist with fostering parent orientations in person and/or virtually.
• Utilize public relations and community resources to aid recruitment.
• Screen and assist with foster home reauthorization and application processing.
