Free Will Baptist Family Ministries (FWBFM), founded in 1939 as an orphanage, has grown into a comprehensive, faith-based family services organization. The ministry now includes a crisis pregnancy center, a maternity home, a Christian camp and retreat, and foster care services. FWBFM also provides on site 12 month addiction rehabilitation and therapeutic care/recovery, as well as assisted living communities in Virginia and Tennessee, with additional facilities under development. The organization serves individuals and families of all ages, offering support through group and individual care settings. Team members join a mission-driven environment focused on compassionate, holistic care across multiple stages of life.

Role Description

The Foster Care Specialist is a full-time, on-site and home based position based in Greeneville, TN. This role is responsible for supporting children and foster families through case management, coordination of services, and ongoing advocacy. Day-to-day tasks include conducting home visits, assessing foster home environments, documenting case progress, and ensuring compliance with agency policies and state regulations. The specialist collaborates with caregivers, social service agencies, schools, and healthcare providers to create and monitor individualized care plans. Additional responsibilities include facilitating trainings and support groups, responding to crisis situations, and maintaining accurate records to promote safety, stability, and well-being for children in care.

Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service abilities to build trust with children, families, and community partners.
  • Effective communication skills, including clear written documentation and professional verbal interaction in diverse settings.
  • Understanding of medicine and, where applicable, critical care considerations to support coordination with healthcare providers.
  • Ability to use sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in complex and emotionally challenging situations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field (or equivalent experience in child and family services).
  • Experience in foster care, child welfare, or family services is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child development, and relevant state foster care regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally for home visits and community meetings.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, uphold professional ethics, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
