Youth For Tomorrow is a faith-based nonprofit serving at-risk youth with a residential shelter program in Virginia. The Foster Care Recruiting and Training Coordinator assesses youth needs, coordinates recruitment and retention of foster families, and conducts training for new and current foster families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a human service field with 1 year of casework experience.
• Bachelor's degree in any field plus 2 years' experience providing casework services to children and families.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record within YFT guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the recruitment and retention plan for foster care parents to increase qualified families.
• Provide outreach and community programs to foster care parents.
• Promote foster care parenting with local programs and media; may require evenings and weekends.
• Provide information to potential foster care parents about the program and process.
• Track and report data related to contacts, recruits, expenditures and reports to the Director of Foster Care Services.
• Ensure foster care homes meet Virginia Licensing, Medicaid, Council on Accreditation, Joint Commission, and state policies.
• Plan activities/events for current foster parents to promote support.
• Assist with pre-service training for new foster families and annual training needs.
• Assist with home studies and recertification of foster families.
• Attend all required trainings.
• Support other program operations and special projects.

Youth For Tomorrow is a 501 (c) (3) and a faith based, non-profit organization, founded in 1986 by Hall of Fame Football Coach Joe Gibbs. The organization is large, diverse, experienced and committed to serving at-risk youth.

Position Summary

We are a growing agency and are in search of caring and compassionate individuals who want to be a part of making a difference in the lives of the youth in our care. In our residential shelter program, we serve youth in a short-term placement who are awaiting reunification with family or sponsors in the U.S. The Foster Care Recruiting and Training Coordinator assesses the needs of youth in foster care, coordinates the recruitment and retention of foster care parents and conducts training for new and current foster families.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate the recruitment and retention plan for foster care parents to increase the number of qualified foster families.
• Provide outreach and community programs to foster care parents.
• Work with local community programs and media outlets to promote foster care parenting which may require working evenings and weekends.
• Provide initial information to potential foster care parents regarding the company, program, and the process of becoming foster care parents.
• Track and maintain data as it relates to the number of contacts/activities, potential recruits, expenditures and providing necessary reports to the Director of Foster Care Services.
• Assist with ensuring that foster care homes meet all Virginia Licensing, Medicaid, Council on Accreditation, Joint Commission, Office of Refugee Resettlement, and YFT policies at the time of certification and remain in compliance.
• Work with foster care team to plan activities/events for current foster parents to promote a supportive system for foster parents.
• Assist Foster Parent Coordinators with conducting pre-service training for new foster families, along with annual training needs for current foster families.
• Assist with conducting and completing home studies of new foster families and completing recertification of current foster families.
• Attendance at all training mandated by YFT.
• Assist with various program operations as requested.
• Assist with special projects as directed.
• All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720; 22 VAC 40- 131-130).
• Other duties as assigned by the CEO or Supervisors.

REQUIRED TRAININGS: P.R. J. D. E. TRAINING, STANDARD PRECAUTIONS; EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS; MANDATORY REPORTING; AND 25 HOURS OF JOB SPECIFIC RELATED TRAINING CPR, AED, FIRST AID AND HANDLE WITH CARE

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in human service field with one year of experience providing casework services to children and families.
• Baccalaureate degree in a human service field with one year of experience providing casework services to children and families.
• Baccalaureate degree in any field plus two years' experience providing casework services to children and families.
• Other experience and education as approved by the CEO (training and education plan to be implemented. *Must have a valid driver's license and driving record within guidelines established by YFT insurance underwriters.
