Job summary

Children’s Hope Alliance in North Carolina seeks a Foster Care Recruiter & Trainer to recruit, train, and support foster families across the region. The role focuses on building relationships, guiding families through licensing steps, and coordinating training using the Teaching-Family Model.

You will collaborate with DSS offices and community partners, participate in community events, and ensure placements meet long-term needs for youth in care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field required.
  • Certification in a state-mandated foster parent training curriculum or ability to gain certification required.
  • Experience with Teaching-Family Model preferred.
  • Experience recruiting or training foster parents preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit & build relationships with prospective foster families.
  • Lead foster parent recruitment efforts in the region.
  • Develop partnerships with DSS offices, mental health providers, and community organizations.
  • Represent Children’s Hope Alliance at community events and outreach opportunities.
  • Train & prepare foster families using the Teaching-Family Model.
  • Guide families through licensing requirements with clarity.
  • Provide ongoing education, including CPR/First Aid, MAR, and training models.
  • Support the licensing process and review documentation for submission.
  • Evaluate youth needs and match them with appropriate foster homes.
  • Participate in staffing and clinical discussions to ensure successful placements.
  • Engage and support foster families with regular communication and monthly trainings.

Candidates who reside within or near Transylvania, Henderson, Jackson, Haywood, Macon, or Swain counties. This preference is based on the role's travel requirements, community engagement responsibilities, and the need to effectively serve the region.

What You’ll Do
  • Recruit & Build Relationships
  • Lead foster parent recruitment efforts in your region
  • Develop partnerships with DSS offices, mental health providers, and community organizations
  • Represent Children’s Hope Alliance at community events and outreach opportunities
  • Train & Prepare Foster Families
  • Facilitate engaging pre-service training using the Teaching-Family Model
  • Guide families through licensing requirements with confidence and clarity
  • Provide ongoing education, including CPR/First Aid, MAR, and model-based training
  • Support the Licensing Process
  • Walk families through each step of becoming licensed
  • Conduct in-home visits and assess readiness for fostering
  • Ensure compliance with all state and agency licensing regulations
  • Collect and review documentation for submission
  • Ensure Strong Placements
  • Evaluate the needs of youth and match them with appropriate foster homes
  • Participate in staffing and clinical discussions with team members
  • Help ensure every placement supports long-term success
  • Engage & Support Foster Families
  • Maintain consistent communication with prospective and licensed families
  • Facilitate monthly training sessions and support groups

Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited College in Psychology, Social Work, or related field and previous work experience in related field is required.
  • Certification in a state-mandated foster parent training curriculum or the ability to gain certification is also required.
  • Experience in the Teaching-Family Model preferred.
  • Previous experience providing case management/supervising foster care services preferred.
  • Experience recruiting or training foster parents preferred
