Job summary

University of South Dakota's Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment is seeking a Foster Care Licensing and Placement Specialist to help find safe, supportive foster homes for children. The role coordinates with DSS and CPCM teams to match children with suitable homes, recruit licensure-ready families, and maintain compliant data records.

Hybrid work options are available; the position requires travel within-state and some evenings/weekends, with a 40-hour workweek and 100% appointment.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in social work, psychology, sociology, public administration, or related fields.
• 1-3 years of related experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with social services, family support systems, and office processes and databases.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate timely and effective foster care placements, considering siblings, culture, proximity, and special needs.
• Maintain clear, ongoing communication with DSS CPS, licensing, foster families, and CPCM team.
• Assist with recruitment, licensure, and retention of foster and potential adoptive families.
• Accurately track, document, and report licensure and placement data to meet DSS and OLA compliance.
