Job summary

New LHRC External Career Site is seeking a Family Services Specialist III in Virginia to manage foster care cases, coordinate services, and support children and families through assessments, referrals, and planning. The role involves collaborating with supervisors, attending legal proceedings, and ensuring living skills development for youth.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field or a related bachelor’s degree with experience; BSW/MSW is preferred.

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field or a bachelor’s degree in any field with two years of related experience in Human Services.
Possession of a BSW or MSW degree.
Virginia Administrative Code reference or equivalent training may be considered.

Responsibilities

Follow case management requirements established by the Family Services Supervisor.
Provide referrals for community-based services.
Place and monitor children in foster homes.
Participate and testify in legal proceedings.
Maintain communication with clients and professionals.
Complete monthly visits with foster children.
Maintain case records and participate in treatment teams and case planning meetings.
Ensure independent living skills development for foster children.
Recruit adoption families and prepare children for adoption; complete the adoption process.
Complete financial paperwork to ensure accurate and timely payments.
May assist in providing emergency shelter as mandated.
