Starting Salary Range: $93,000.00 - $110,000.00. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on individual performance and company objectives.

Our Forward Market Solutions Engineer II will work collaboratively with a diverse team to build and support tactical solutions to complex challenges in forward energy markets. This role involves working with engineers, operators, analysts, and data scientists within Market Operations to develop user-interactive applications and provide capabilities for user-developed tools along with deep data analytics. You will have the opportunity to understand and improve congestion management practices, leverage increased data visibility, and use predictive risk management to align Forward Market assumptions with actual outcomes.

You will work with experienced Power System professionals on challenging problems and collaborate cross-functionally, diving deep into data analytics to optimize market outcomes. The tools and analyses developed will add value to MISO’s operations by enhancing awareness and decision-making, with the mission of optimizing markets, reducing risk, and delivering value.

As a Forward Market Solutions Engineer II, you will have the opportunity to create a large impact on MISO’s Forward Markets. You will:

  1. Collaborate with the FMS team to develop sustainable tools aiding market operations, including visualizations for dashboards and applications.
  2. Lead power flow analysis and market simulation (SCUC/SCED) to improve forward market processes and efficiency.
  3. Work closely with business groups to define application enhancements and requirements, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.

In one year, success will be demonstrated if:

  1. You effectively collaborate with FMS and cross-functional teams to drive efficient Forward Market outcomes (Financial Transmission Rights, Day-Ahead Market, and Unit Commitment).
  2. You support the transformation and development of processes and technology improvements aligned with Operations of the Future and MISO’s Reliability Imperative.

We are looking for hardworking professionals with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Two or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with Powerflow, Production Cost Modeling
  • Experience with engineering software such as PROBE, PROMOD, PLEXOS, TARA, PSS/e
  • Previous energy industry experience

Preferred candidates will also have:

  • Experience with Python, SQL, Git
  • NERC certification
  • At least two years of data management, market analysis, planning, or settlements experience

Level will be determined based on experience and knowledge.
