If you've spent your career sitting between marketing and IT — translating what the business needs into what the process and systems can actually deliver — and you're already thinking about how AI changes that relationship, this seat was built for you.
Block+Tackle is where Marketing Operations gets reinvented, not just run. We're not just about evaluating platforms or leading implementations — our clients' environments already exist, tools and all. What we need is someone who can walk into how marketing actually operates day to day — the process, the workflow, the handoffs, the habits nobody's questioned in years — and figure out where and how AI can genuinely change the way that work gets done.
This isn't a stack story. It's a process story. The tool is rarely the real problem — it's the process wrapped around it, or the workaround a team quietly built because nobody trusted what was already there. We tune what exists instead of ripping it out, and we use AI to evolve it into something meaningfully better.
You'll work embedded inside enterprise clients' actual environment — not advising from across the table, but sitting inside their workflow, their tools, and their teams: tuning marketing operations to work the way the business actually needs, and building how AI fits into that flow — planning, workflow, decisioning, execution, measurement, all of it. If you can see where AI genuinely changes how marketing operations should function, and you're the kind of person who builds that change into place rather than just recommending it — we want to talk.
What You'll Own
- Marketing operations diagnosis — mapping how the function actually works across planning, execution, and measurement: the workflow, the handoffs, the decision points, and the habits, so you find where the real friction lives before recommending anything
- AI-augmentation, designed and built — identifying where AI can meaningfully improve a marketing operations process, then building it into place yourself — workflow, decisioning, prioritization, and output, not just where to bolt on generative content
- Marketing operations transformation — redesigning process, roles, and workflow so they work the way the business actually needs them to, tuning and evolving what's already there rather than replacing it
- Embedded delivery — you're the one inside the client's environment day to day, in their tools and their team meetings, iterating in tight loops based on what's actually happening rather than working from a discovery-phase report; Engagement Leads and Solutions Architects back you up, but you're driving
- Advisory to marketing and IT leadership — guiding stakeholders on AI readiness, governance, and responsible adoption inside marketing operations
- The translation layer — turning ambiguous business problems into clear process and operational recommendations, and turning AI possibility into plain-language guidance marketing and IT can both act on
- The practice itself — building reusable frameworks and documentation that make every MarOps + AI engagement sharper than the last
- The edge — staying genuinely ahead of how AI is actually changing marketing operations, and pressure-testing what's real versus hype before it reaches a client
- NEED TO ADD - Ability to hop in at the most mundane and the most strategic. You are not above any job needed to achieve the mission objective.
What You Bring
- 8+ years in Marketing Operations, with significant experience inside enterprise (Fortune 1000) organizations or in-house enterprise marketing teams
- 5+ years in a client-facing or embedded delivery role — consulting, technical implementation, applied AI/ops work, or in-house enterprise marketing — with a track record of owning outcomes, not just recommendations
- Hands-on experience leading process and marketing operations transformation — not just recommending change, but redesigning how a function actually works
- Practical experience figuring out where AI fits into the marketing operations flow — you know where it changes planning, workflow, decisioning, or execution, not just where it can generate content
- Comfortable tuning and optimizing an existing environment rather than replacing it — you see what's underused, misused, or quietly working around what's already there
- A diagnostic mindset — you instinctively look past the tool to the process and the people around it, and you can tell a technology problem from a workflow problem from an adoption problem
- Comfortable challenging entrenched process without alienating the people who built it — you evolve the system, you don't torch it
- Working familiarity with common enterprise marketing platforms (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Experience, HubSpot Enterprise, Braze, Segment/mParticle, GA4/Amplitude, and similar) — enough to know how they're actually being used, not to evaluate or select them
- Executive presence — you can run a discovery workshop, defend a recommendation under pressure, and deliver hard news to a client with clarity and warmth — and just as comfortable heads-down inside their actual tools and workflows building the fix yourself
- Based in the Atlanta metro area, available for hybrid collaboration and occasional client travel
- Adaptable, no crying, things shift from day to day...
- Grit and love swimming in ambiguity...
