Forward Deployed Engineer - Washington, D.C. (On-site)

About Foxtrot

Foxtrot Services is a specialized Palantir partner, founded by former Palantir business leaders, bringing deep, hands‑on experience delivering AI and data platforms in complex, high‑stakes enterprise and government settings.

We help organizations turn messy data reality into systems people actually trust, use, and scale, from modern data engineering through production AI‑powered use cases and operational workflows.

We work across industries including automotive, healthcare, financial services, and supply chain. Foxtrot is built for people who want both autonomy and a team that shows up for them. You will have room to own work, plus experienced teammates who will coach, review, and help you level up fast. We value curiosity, technical fluency, strong collaboration, and high integrity. If that sounds like you, we hope you’ll join us.

Your Role

Foxtrot is seeking motivated, curious, and data‑driven individuals to join our team as Forward Deployed Engineers. In this role, you will use your Palantir Foundry expertise, a quantitative mindset, and technical skill sets to solve complex customer problems directly on‑site in Washington, D.C. 3 to 4 days a week. You will act as an integrated technical expert between customer and product teams, translating mission needs into technical configurations, actionable strategic roadmaps, and operational workflows in a mission‑driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • On‑Site Technical Execution: Embed with customer teams at the client‑designated site up to five days per week to provide forward‑deployed technical solutions.
  • Platform Configuration & Data Engineering: Use coding languages (SQL, Python) to conduct technical platform configuration, integrate data from structured and unstructured sources, and support containerised deployments (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary technical interface for senior stakeholders, facilitating live data deep‑dives and "what‑if" scenario modelling to address supply chain vulnerabilities.
  • Mission Enablement: Develop mission‑specific workflows and dashboards, ensuring that high‑level assessments transition into functional, persistent monitors within the customer's workflow.
  • Performance Optimization: Diagnose and resolve system issues in operational environments while conducting root cause analysis to optimise performance and scalability.
  • Leadership: Lead execution teams and workstreams, mentor team members to refine technical skills and domain expertise, and shape institutional knowledge of data platforms.

Qualifications

  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Platform Experience: Proven, hands‑on experience with Palantir Foundry is required.
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, etc.) or 3–7 years of equivalent experience.
  • Domain Expertise: 3–7 years of experience performing national security‑related analytics, with a deep understanding of defence acquisition processes and programme management.
  • Communication: Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills, with a proven history of presenting findings to senior government officials.

Preferred Experience

  • Technical Modernisation: Experience with software‑as‑a‑service (SaaS) and cloud platforms (AWS GovCloud or Azure Gov).
  • Specialised Analysis: Familiarity with Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM), Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE), or Open Source Intelligence (OSINT).
  • Advanced Education: Master’s degree in a quantitative or technical field.
  • Agile Environments: Experience operating in fast‑paced startup or entrepreneurial environments.

Why Work at Foxtrot?

  • Real ownership, early. You will take on meaningful work quickly, with clear expectations and a team that supports you.
  • Right place, right time. Foxtrot is growing fast as AI and data become must‑haves for enterprise teams, not nice‑to‑haves.
  • Work that matters. You will help deliver real outcomes for clients, not just plans, and see your work make a difference.
  • Help shape how we deliver. As we grow, you will have a voice in improving how we work, how we run projects, and how we keep quality high.
  • Strong culture, no drama. You will work with smart, collaborative teammates in a high‑trust, low‑ego environment.
  • Best‑in‑class tools. You will get hands‑on with industry‑leading platforms like Palantir Foundry.
  • Flexibility and growth. You will have autonomy in how you work, plus real opportunities to learn, stretch, and grow.
