Job summary

Fun seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with our most strategic customers in NYC, architecting best‑in‑class onboarding and checkout experiences and driving end‑to‑end technical delivery from discovery to rollout.

You will collaborate with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to scope, design, and implement scalable solutions, while partnering with business teams on evaluations and prototypes to win deals and drive adoption.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-stack production software experience.

About the team

On the new Forward Deployed Engineering team, you’ll work directly with our most strategic customers to ensure they get the maximum value out of Fun’s platform. You will own discovery, technical scoping, execution, and rollout of functionality that extends Fun’s capabilities — working closely with our Product & Customer Success teams.

This is a new role and team at Fun; we’re looking for people with high agency, who are excited about shaping the direction of their work + the team.

Product engineers, engineers who have led customer implementations, and technical founders could all be a fit.

What You'll Do

• Architect and deliver best-in-class onramp & checkout experiences for our strategic customers.
• Work closely with our Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams to scope, design, and build solutions that scale across our customer base.
• Lead technical discovery with prospective and existing customers.
• Partner with our business team on evaluations, demos, and prototypes to close deals, engage customers, and make Fun a stickier product over time.
• Set the standard for our new Forward Deployed Engineering team, and contribute to scaling our products and processes.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define and prioritize our roadmap.

We care deeply about technical excellence. You’ll need the judgment to move quickly while building something your teammates and customers can depend on.

What You'll Bring

• 5+yrs of experience building and shipping full-stack production software in high ownership environments.
• Strong proficiency in at least one of: TypeScript, Go, Python, or a similar language.
• Experience working directly with high-value customers, from pre-sales discovery through production rollout.
• Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness, bridging technical systems, teams, business objectives.
• The ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at every level, from engineers to executives.
• Experience working with LLMs, to build high-availability systems and scale processes.

Nice to have: Experience with React Native, payments, or blockchain integrations is helpful but not strictly required.

$150,000 - $300,000 a year

This role has a base salary range of $155,000 - $300,000/yr, shared in accordance with NYC pay transparency guidelines. We aim to pay top-of-market and benchmark compensation regularly to remain highly competitive within our industry. In addition to base salary, we offer a strong total rewards package that may include equity ownership, performance incentives, and comprehensive benefits. Compensation is tailored by level, with offers based on impact, experience, and skillset, while maintaining internal equity across the team.

Location and Work Environment

This role is primarily in-person at our Midtown, NYC headquarters. We work together Monday through Thursday for fast, iterative collaboration and optional WFH Fridays to reset and recharge.
