Job description

See yourself at Dataminr As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will help Dataminr's technology meet our customers' hardest problems. You'll join small teams with real ownership, deploying and operationalizing First Alert inside customer environments, including sensitive U.S. defense and national security missions. Your job is to turn open-ended questions into a working solution that gives operators an edge in real time. Palantir Foundry is central to this role. You'll design data pipelines, ontologies, and applications that combine Dataminr's real-time intelligence with the customer's own data. You own the solution from the first sketch to the finished system operators depend on, whether that's in the field or an operations center. Some days you're debugging infrastructure. Other days you're deep in data architecture with fellow engineers, building out API integrations, or sitting with customer stakeholders to figure out what to build next.

AI Innovation at Dataminr

Regenerative AI: our AI technology, ReGenAI, is a new form of generative AI that automatically regenerates real-time Live Event Briefs as events unfold.

Agentic AI: we recently launched our Agentic AI capability, what we’re calling our Intel Agents, that autonomously generates critical context for our clients on real-time events, threats, and risks allowing them to see the clearest, most accurate view of what’s happening on the ground.

Multimodal AI: our platform detects events from many different types of data (images, video, sensor data, audio, and text in over 150 languages).

The opportunity

Partner directly with defense and security customers to understand their highest-priority situational awareness and force protection problems, then scope solutions against them.

Design, build, and deploy solutions on Palantir Foundry that operationalize First Alert, including data pipelines, ontology models, and operator‑facing applications, along with custom widgets as needed.

Integrate Dataminr's real-time intelligence into customer workflows, common operating pictures, and existing command-and-control tooling, ensuring users with different information needs across the organization get mission-relevant intelligence.

Own solutions end to end, working with minimal supervision and making sound technical decisions independently.

Debug across the full stack, including infrastructure, networking, and application layers, including in cloud, hybrid, restricted, disconnected, or on‑premises environments.

Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer engineers and operators, channeling their feedback back into the Dataminr product.

Travel to customer sites and operations centers as needed (approximately 25–75% of the time).

What you bring
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems in a team setting
  • Hands‑on Palantir Foundry expertise: pipelines, ontology, Compute Modules, Code Repositories, and app development.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, SQL, TypeScript/JavaScript, Bash, or Go.
  • Comfort with containers, orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift), Linux, and on‑prem infrastructure.
  • Active U.S. security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one required.
  • Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • Strong communicator across technical and non‑technical audiences, with willingness to travel 50‑75% to secure customer sites.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in classified, air‑gapped, or disconnected environments.
  • Background in defense, intelligence, or national security operations.
  • Familiarity with geospatial tools (Esri/ArcGIS) or command‑and‑control systems.
  • Front‑end experience building operator‑facing applications.
