Job summary

Petra is seeking an engineer/customer-focused professional to be the first point of contact for customers, collaborating with the founding team to identify pain points around account compromise. You will rapidly iterate on feedback and propose longer term platform improvements while championing the customer with a white-glove experience.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of relevant experience, strong communication, and the ability to work autonomously in a lean environment.

Qualifications

Who We Are

We’re on a mission to stop the most dominant cyberattacks on the planet.

Cybersecurity titans are born when a new attack vector overwhelms existing defenses. When ransomware ran rampant, CrowdStrike emerged as the category leader for securing user endpoints. Today, AI has made account compromise the #1 cybercrime. LLM-powered phishing messages get past email security, allowing attackers to compromise accounts and exfiltrate sensitive data in minutes. Incumbents can't keep up. They catch these attacks late, or miss them altogether.

Enter Petra, security for when no perimeter remains. We are building an AI-driven Detection and Response platform to catch and remove attackers before they can act.

We've grown very quickly, reaching mid-7-figures in ARR in under a year — we now protect over 2.5 million users across 10,000+ businesses. We price premium, yet have extremely low customer churn. What You’ll Do

Ownership is everything here. Petra is a premium product and it's everyone's job to make sure it stays that way. You'll be in charge of working directly with our customers to improve our existing product experience and lead the deployment of our new offerings.

Concretely, you will:

• Be the first contact with our customer. Working closely with our founding team and largest accounts, you'll identify the pain points that exist around an account compromise.

• Iterate and innovate. We're growing fast. We expect you to take customer feedback and turn around incremental improvements in hours, not days. As you build up your understanding, we then expect you to propose longer term, more fundamental improvements to our platform.

• Champion the customer. You'll both offer a white-glove experience externally and be the voice for our customers internally. We want you to push every edge of the Petra experience, human and platform, to be delightful.

Our stack is Node, TypeScript, React, and Python... for now.

Who You Are

• 2+ years of engineering, investment banking, or consulting experience, with meaningful time working with customers at scale. For IB/consulting folks, we expect you to be able to engage with code. Having a degree in a technical discipline is a strong plus.

• Experience building systems for constantly improving a product. You learn by doing and then build scaffolding around what you learned so others can help scale.

• High agency and high output. You identify the problem, propose the solution, and execute. You're constantly looking for ways to expand your horizon of understanding to improve that loop.

• Customer-obsessed. You put yourself in the customer's shoes, and your actions stem from a place of deep customer empathy.

• Strong communicator. You excel at making complex ideas simple. You're a strong writer and presenter.

• Sharp and scrappy. You learn fast: you ask the right questions and figure it out. You ship fast: you find the 90/10 and don't let perfect be the enemy of done.

• Comfortable in a lean, high-autonomy environment. The scope of your work is rarely handed to you, and you wouldn't have it any other way.

• Proud of your craft. You care about building things that work well and hold up over time.
