Job summary

Alexander Chapman is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer for an on-site role in New York City. You will work at the intersection of engineering and customer delivery, building reusable workflows and data models that power government workflows.

You will partner with a Forward Deployed PM, tackle legacy systems and undocumented APIs, and leverage AI coding tools to ship production features. Strong backend and frontend skills and the ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders are

I'm partnering with a well-funded, high-growth startup that's building an AI-native platform modernizing how state and local governments operate. They're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work at the intersection of engineering and customer delivery, building reusable solutions that power critical public sector workflows.

In this role, you'll:

Partner closely with a Forward Deployed PM to design and deliver customer-facing solutions

Build reusable workflows, data models, and components that can scale across multiple deployments

Work with complex legacy systems, government datasets, and undocumented APIs

Leverage AI coding tools to rapidly develop, iterate, and ship production-ready features

Collaborate with the Platform Engineering team to improve the underlying platform based on real-world implementations

They're looking for an engineer with strong backend development experience, solid frontend capabilities, and a track record of building end-to-end products. Experience with AI coding tools, reusable platform design, and fast-paced startup environments is highly valued. Strong communication skills and the ability to work alongside non-technical stakeholders are also important.
