Accrete, a dual-use AI software company, seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead complex customer deployments from discovery through production stabilization. Responsibilities

Office Location: Lower Manhattan, NY (4 days per week in the office)

Accrete is a dual-use AI software company that licenses its Knowledge Engine Platform and Expert AI Agents to government and enterprise clients. The platform creates a unified semantic representation of an organization's ground truth—capturing tacit domain knowledge, understanding contextual relevance, and connecting information silos—enabling expert agents to reason across complex data and support high-stakes decisions with confidence.

From national security to commercial use cases, Accrete delivers mission-critical decision intelligence and automation on a single platform.

About the Role

Accrete is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead complex technical deployments with strategic customers. In this role, you will own the technical path from discovery and scoping through system design, hands‑on build, integration, rollout, and production stabilization.

You will work directly with customer engineering teams, operational users, and domain stakeholders to understand their workflows and translate them into working AI‑powered systems. You will write and review production‑grade code, make architecture decisions, troubleshoot deployment challenges, and help customers adopt what you build.

This is a hands‑on engineering role for someone who can operate independently, manage complex technical ambiguity, and coordinate across teams to deliver customer outcomes. Success will be measured through production adoption, measurable workflow impact, deployment quality, and the field feedback you provide to improve Accrete's product and model roadmap.

Travel up to 50% may be required.

What You'll Do

• Own technical delivery across complex customer deployments from first prototype to stable production use.
• Own planning, staffing, prioritization, and delivery governance for forward deployed engineering engagements.
• Partner directly with customer engineering, technical, operational, and domain teams to understand workflows, constraints, and success criteria.
• Design and build full‑stack systems, integrations, configurations, and deployment workflows that deliver measurable customer value.
• Write and review production‑grade code across frontend, backend, data, and integration layers using Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, or comparable technologies.
• Configure and operationalize AI agents, retrieval workflows, data pipelines, and customer‑specific system integrations.
• Scope technical work, sequence delivery, identify dependencies, and remove blockers early.
• Make practical tradeoffs across scope, speed, quality, security, and customer impact.
• Support production rollout, adoption, monitoring, troubleshooting, and iteration in customer environments.
• Translate field learnings into reusable tools, playbooks, implementation patterns, and technical building blocks for other deployments.
• Share structured feedback with Product, Engineering, and Research on where models, workflows, and platform capabilities succeed or need improvement.
• Collaborate with Deployment Strategy to connect business outcomes and technical execution.
• Support deployments in regulated environments, including environments with complex security and infrastructure constraints.
• Coordinate with other technical contributors when deployments require cross‑functional execution.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of engineering, technical deployment, solutions architecture, or customer‑facing technical delivery experience.
• Strong full‑stack engineering experience, including building and shipping production web applications or enterprise systems.
• Proficiency with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, or comparable modern engineering stacks.
• Experience scoping, designing, and delivering complex technical systems in fast‑moving or ambiguous environments.
• Experience working directly with customers or end users to understand workflows, validate assumptions, and deliver practical solutions.
• Strong understanding of APIs, data integrations, system architecture, cloud or on‑prem environments, and production operations.
• Experience building or deploying systems powered by LLMs, generative AI, machine learning models, retrieval systems, or data‑intensive workflows.
• Ability to simplify complex problems, make sound technical decisions under pressure, and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate with limited oversight while keeping internal and customer teams aligned.
• Ability to lead broad technical functions through senior ICs, or cross‑functional delivery teams.
• Strong communication skills and experience partnering with senior technical, and operational stakeholders.
• Ability to operate in ambiguous environments, make sound tradeoffs, and drive teams toward clear outcomes.
• Ability to identify risk early, adjust plans, and protect delivery outcomes without slowing progress.
• Ability to travel up to 50% based on customer and deployment needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying AI, LLM, knowledge graph, semantic search, or agentic workflow systems in production.
• Experience with enterprise security, compliance, identity, networking, data governance, or regulated deployment environments.
• Experience creating reusable deployment patterns, internal tools, technical playbooks, or implementation frameworks.
• Startup experience or experience working in high‑growth, high‑ambiguity environments.

Salary Range: 160k-200k

The salary range provided reflects the estimated compensation for this role based on the expected qualifications and experience level. The final offer may vary depending on factors such as skills, experience, and alignment with role requirements.
