Radley James is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer for a high-growth fintech startup in New York. This role sits at the intersection of product and customers, offering ownership, rapid iteration, and impact on live systems.

You will embed with key customers, understand their workflows, and tailor solutions on top of a rapidly evolving platform. You’ll help shape the core product by turning custom work into scalable features.

We’re working with a high-growth fintech startup building next-generation infrastructure for global payments, focused on simplifying cross-border transactions and modernising how businesses move money internationally.

This is a Forward Deployed Engineer role sitting at the intersection of product and customers, ideal for engineers who want real ownership, fast iteration cycles, and direct impact on live systems.

The Opportunity

You’ll embed directly with key customers, understand their workflows in depth, and build tailored solutions on top of a rapidly evolving platform. This is not a ticket-taking role, you’ll scope problems, design systems, ship features, and iterate in real time, often with users in the loop.

You’ll also play a key role in shaping the core product by turning custom solutions into scalable features used across the wider customer base.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Partner closely with customers to understand complex workflows and deliver high-impact solutions
• Design and build end-to-end features across the stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure)
• Rapidly prototype and deploy production-grade systems under real-world constraints
• Identify repeatable patterns and help evolve them into core platform capabilities
• Work directly with engineering leadership to influence product direction and architecture
• TypeScript, React
• Node.js / backend frameworks
• Postgres and modern data tooling
• AWS (serverless + messaging), Docker

• Strong fullstack engineering background with a product mindset
• Experience working closely with users or customers (or desire to)
• Comfortable owning problems end-to-end in a fast-moving environment
• Ability to balance speed with quality, especially in high-stakes systems
• Clear communicator across both technical and non-technical stakeholders
