Job summary

NextBigWhat seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to design, build, and ship technical solutions for the company’s strategic customers in a hybrid New York office environment. The role blends deep technical work with high‑level business judgment to shape how Balance brings solutions to market.

The FDE reports to the VP of Revenue and serves as a key technical voice in customer engagements, owning demos, PoCs, and integrations while guiding customer success and escalations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Consulting, or Solution Architecture.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Exhibit strong business judgment about deal economics and ROI; know when to build versus push back on scope.
• Sharp ability to extract the core of a customer’s problem and communicate it clearly to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Hands-on ability to build and configure AI-agent-based workflows and integrations, designing solutions connecting Balance's products to client systems.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic enterprise opportunities through technical discovery, solution design, and executive customer engagements.
• Own technical demos, solution design, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
• Ensure successful customer implementations and serve as the escalation point for complex technical challenges.
• Represent the voice of the customer by translating feedback into product and engineering priorities.
• Work directly with strategic accounts to solve their problems, designing and shipping integrations and AI-agent workflows that connect Balance's teams to clients' systems.
