Selby Jennings is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer in New York to work directly with investment teams, clients, and domain experts. You will identify high-impact opportunities, design AI-powered systems, and deploy production AI applications that automate processes and improve decision-making.

You will partner with business users to understand workflows, translate problems into scalable solutions, and build reusable AI components that scale across teams, while communicating effectively

Formación

• Bachelors or higher in CS or related field.
• 5-7+ years of full-time software engineering experience.
• Strong foundation and experience building and operating production systems.
• Experience building production AI applications using LLMs, agents, RAG, tool calling, or orchestration frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Experience with APIs, cloud platforms, data pipelines, and enterprise systems.
• Excellent communication and business partnering with stakeholders.

We're partnered with a premier global investment and technology firm that is making a significant investment in AI as a core business capability. As part of that effort, they're hiring Forward Deployed AI Engineers to work directly with investment teams, clients, business leaders, and domain experts, identifying high-impact opportunities and building production AI solutions that transform how work gets done.

This is not a traditional software engineering role. You'll sit alongside stakeholders, learn their workflows firsthand, uncover inefficiencies, and design AI-powered systems that automate processes, improve decision-making, and unlock new ways of working.

What You'll Do:

• Partner directly with business users to understand workflows, bottlenecks, and operational challenges
• Translate ambiguous business problems into scalable technical solutions
• Design, build, and deploy production AI applications, agents, and workflow automations
• Develop AI-powered tools leveraging LLMs, RAG, orchestration frameworks, and enterprise data sources
• Build integrations across internal systems, databases, APIs, and knowledge repositories
• Create reusable AI components, tools, and workflows that can scale across multiple teams
• Measure business impact through adoption, automation, efficiency gains, and decision quality improvements

Requirements:

• Bachelors or higher in Computer Science or related field
• 5-7+ full-time years of experience in software engineering
• Strong software engineering foundation with experience building and operating impactful production systems
• Experience building production AI applications using LLMs, agents, RAG, tool calling, or orchestration frameworks
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar modern programming languages
• Experience working with APIs, cloud platforms, data pipelines, and enterprise systems
• Fantastic communication skills and commerciality as you'd directly partner with business stakeholders internally and/or externally, operating in ambiguous environments
• Ability to move between architecture discussions, coding, workflow discovery, and solution delivery
• Track record of turning one-off solutions into reusable products or platforms

Compensation:

Competitive base (~$180k-$200k), bonus, and equity package
