Qualifications

  • Cosmetics formulation experience
  • Ability to read and interpret scientific literature, journals, regulations
  • Ability to write reports, procedures, and manuals
  • Ability to present information to management and staff

Responsibilities

  • Blend routine and non-routine chemical agents to develop new products or improve existing products
  • Evaluate and test products for conformance to goals and quality-control standards
  • Monitor production batches and new and existing products
  • Participate in blending, mixing, homogenization, and short-term stability evaluations
  • Develop manufacturing instructions and oversee pilot-manufactured batches
  • Investigate new sources for raw materials
  • Aid in developing testing specifications for materials and finished goods
  • Help develop and validate new or improved processes by evaluating material uniformity
  • Maintain laboratory records per regulations and manufacturing requirements
  • Interpret laboratory results and report activities to management
  • Stay current with industry trends
  • Participate in vendor qualifications through packaging and ingredient evaluation
  • Perform quality-control tests in Cosmetics Department and processing
  • Record test data using statistical quality-control procedures
  • Evaluate data and write reports validating or identifying deviations
  • Audit batch records and maintain Cosmetic Lab records
  • Recommend modifications to quality or production standards
  • Analyze products using viscosity, pH, moisture, and other analyses
  • Adjust batches when necessary and approve or reject products per Sunrider specs
  • No supervisory responsibilities

Responsibilities


  • Blend routine and non-routine chemical agents to develop new products or improve existing products

  • Evaluate and test products for conformance to development goals and quality-control standards

  • Monitor production batches and new and existing products

  • Participate in blending, mixing, homogenization, and short-term product stability evaluations

  • Develop manufacturing instructions and oversee pilot-manufactured batches of laboratory formulas

  • Investigate new, secondary, or replacement sources for raw materials

  • Aid in developing testing specifications for raw materials, process intermediates, and finished goods

  • Help develop and validate new or improved processes by evaluating material uniformity

  • Maintain laboratory records in accordance with regulations and manufacturing requirements

  • Interpret laboratory results and report activities to management

  • Stay current with industry trends

  • Participate in vendor qualifications through packaging and ingredient evaluation

  • Perform quality-control tests in the Cosmetics Department and processing

  • Record test data using statistical quality-control procedures

  • Evaluate data and write reports validating or identifying deviations from standards

  • Audit batch records and maintain Cosmetic Lab records

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in a scientific discipline from a four-year college or university, and a minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Thorough knowledge of common compounding techniques and ingredients

  • Related experience and/or training in cosmetics formulation

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific literature, technical journals, legal documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, analytical methods procedures, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information to management, staff, supervisors, and employees

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts, statistical quality control procedures, and mathematical operations including analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis

  • Knowledge of database software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables

  • Ability to use instruments in the Cosmetic Lab

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
