Job description

Title: Formal Garden Attendant
Location: City of Waukesha parks
Department: Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry
Reports To: Recreation Facilities Coordinator or Recreation Supervisors
Wage: $13.00

This position will be primarily scheduled in the summer. Will oversee rentals. Will aid in public education regarding Park rules throughout City Parks. Work is performed under general supervision of Recreation Facilities Coordinator or Recreation Supervisors.


Specific Accountabilities:

  • Will meet and greet rental parties and answer any questions.
  • Will inspect the Gardens and other areas between rentals and document anything unusual. Will keep area free from hazards and debris (pick up broken bottles...).
  • Will need to have knowledge of park rules and procedures for enforcing them.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to tactfully educate on Garden and Park rules as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to take initiative as needed.
  • Ability to identify unsafe situations and act accordingly.
  • Good sense of judgment.
  • Ability to promote WPRF as an ambassador.
  • Must remain drug and alcohol free within the guidelines of the law.
  • Will be provided and required to wear Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry shirt and name badge.
  • Ability to communicate with the public and other staff. Spanish skills a plus.
  • Prefer CPR certified with knowledge of emergency plans.
