Job summary

MasTec Industrial is seeking a Form Carpenter Foreman for a full-time site-based role in Rapid City, SD. You will read drawings and measurements, erect and set forms for vertical and horizontal concrete structures, and supervise crews to meet project specifications.

This position requires up to 50 hours per week, travel to project sites, and strict adherence to safety standards. Experience in heavy industrial construction and NCCER preferred; strong leadership and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NCCER Certification/License (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in supervisory role.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret measuring tools to perform tasks accurately.
  • Set and place forms to proper elevations and location, prepare base and install reinforcing.
  • Experience and/or exposure in setting and erecting forms using various materials and forming systems.
  • Assist in marking, cutting, and assembling lines on materials and shaping as prescribed.
  • Perform general carpentry tasks such as building barricades, decks, shelves, and site duties as needed.
  • Place/tie rebar and assist in placing and finishing concrete.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Form Carpenter Foreman are required to perform a variety of tasks including erecting and setting forms for vertical and horizontal concrete structures and site work, per specifications and drawings.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret measuring tools such as, tape measure, speed square, framing square...etc. In order to perform task accurately.
  • Fully Understand Plant North and drawing coordinates
  • Assist in setting and placement of forms to proper elevations and location, prepare the base and install proper reinforcing.
  • Experience and/or exposure in setting and erecting forms using a wide variety of materials and forming systems for vertical and Horizontal concrete forming.
  • Assist in the marking, cutting, and assembly lines on materials. Assists in Shaping materials to prescribed measurements and assemble, fasten with nails, dowel pins or glue.
  • Able to assist in general Carpentry tasks, such as, but not limited to: build and install barricades, decks, shelves, and any other misc. Site needs and duties that may come up.
  • Be able to assist in placing/tying rebar.
  • Be able to assist in placing and finishing concrete.
  • Assist in the following: Disassemble, remove, and clean form materials.
  • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.
  • Must have basic knowledge of the construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction.
  • Support project with other tasks as directed by supervision.
  • Communicate with Foreman regarding any problems arising, materials required, or any hazards noted.
  • Ability to work different shifts and overtime as required.
  • Work under production schedule pressure.
  • Attain set standards of accuracy.
  • Be able to perform duties in a safe manner.
Supervisory
  • Manage, lead direct reports, and mentor.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Requirements
  • 4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • NCCER Certification/License (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in supervisory role
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
  • When on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Follow all state, company, client, OSHA, and federal guidelines regarding health and safety.
  • Each employee is to practice and maintain good "House Killing" by cleaning up their work area and jobsite after each task
Physical Demands
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • May need to maintain physical strength and stamina; Use arms, hands, and legs fully; Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Stamina to perform this task repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.
  • Uncontrolled environmental conditions: Constant change in weather and site conditions.
  • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to- safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • May need to work at heights and must be able to abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements; must be able to wear and utilize all safety equipment required for work at heights.
  • Evaluate information based on measurable standards; and see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings.
  • Keep good balance and work at heights.
  • See well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Hear well (either naturally or with correction.)
  • Coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.
Hours

This position is a Full-Time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week. Schedule is subject to projects requirements.

Travel

Travel required up to 90%. Position required directly on the Project Site location with intermittent travel to residence of record.
