Job Summary

Yarde Metals is looking for a warehouse associate to join our Operations Team in Hauppauge, NY. A warehouse associate is responsible for safely filling orders, replenishing inventory, loading/unloading trucks and moving material in the warehouse.

Job Responsibilities

1. Safety First!
2. Move material throughout warehouse by safely operating powered industrial vehicles (forklifts and overhead cranes).
3. Retrieve material from inventory according to work instructions.
4. Verify accuracy of material retrieved by measuring and comparing product information on tag to work order.
5. Construct skids and use shipping supplies to properly wrap and prepare product for delivery using tape measures, banding equipment, and nail guns.
6. Tag material, verify product against work order, and perform last piece visual inspection.
7. Safely load and unload material from trucks using cranes, forklifts, and side loaders.
8. Inspect inbound material using measuring tape measures and calipers.
9. Prepare orders for shipment via common carriers, UPS, and customer pick-up.
10. Expedite orders and process received and shipped material in system.
11. Perform additional duties as instructed by manager.

Requirements

***This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position: requires operating heavy machinery***

1. High School graduate or equivalent strongly preferred.
2. Warehouse material handling and forklift experience strongly preferred.
3. Must be able to read, understand, and carry out work instructions in English.
4. Must be able to use and read a tape measure.
5. Must have strong critical thinking skills and ability to safely work in a fast-paced environment.
6. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position (e.g., continuous standing and lifting 70 pounds).
