Job summary

Merchants Metals LLC is seeking a Warehouse Yard Associate in Elgin, IL to prepare loads for delivery and maintain strict safety and cleanliness standards. The role requires forklift operation experience, ability to guide loads, and excellent customer service.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with a pay range of $23–$27 per hour depending on experience. Responsibilities include loading/unloading, tagging and recording, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a safe, organized yard

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in equipment operations.
• Forklift Operator experience.
• Proficient in the safe use of common hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers).

Responsibilities

• Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas using hand tools or equipment.
• Load and unload trucks and sort materials before loading/unloading.
• Attach identifying tags to containers and record information.
• Stack cargo using pallets or cargo boards.
• Record numbers of units handled using daily tickets.
• Install protective devices to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
• Guide loads to prevent swinging and ensure safe movement.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse and yard per procedures.
• Pack and repack containers; prepare materials for shipping.
• Carry tools and supplies as needed; connect electrical equipment for testing.
• Perform duties like fabrication or order pulling as directed.
• Perform general yard duties and overtime as required.
• Provide excellent customer service.
