Job summary

Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment is seeking a dependable Shop Porter to keep our busy shop, parts areas, and grounds clean and organized. You will work both indoors and outdoors, supporting technicians and the overall operation.

The role is hands-on and varied, with tasks ranging from housekeeping to basic maintenance, forklift operation, and local parts pickups. No prior forklift certification is required, but training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Background in custodial, janitorial, facility maintenance, or similar hands-on work.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep the facility clean, safe, and ready for the team by sweeping shop floors, emptying trash, cleaning bathrooms, washing windows, and debris removal.
• Pitch in and support the shop and warehouse teams with hands-on tasks such as loading/dumping forklift hoppers, cleaning equipment, and organizing bays.
• Maintain the grounds and outdoor areas by mowing, weed trimming, spraying weed killer, and keeping the property well kept.
• Help with basic facility upkeep including changing light bulbs, touch-up painting, and minor maintenance tasks.
• Operate a forklift and company vehicle to move materials and make local parts pickups; forklift training/certification will be provided.
• Keep cleaning supplies stocked and provide friendly, helpful support to customers, technicians, warehouse staff, and other team members.
