Forklift Operator VB (Day Shift) (Finance)

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To transfer products using an industrial forklift, hand lift, or pallet jack in a manner which complies with safety procedures, company, and USDA requirements.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Store and move product using an industrial forklift, hand lift, or pallet jack. Operate electronic or manual pallet jacks between departments, buildings, and grounds. Collect and deliver materials while adhering to safety procedures.
2. Deliver materials to work areas as directed by the production supervisor, stack materials in storage areas, and load/unload shipments. Ensure products or equipment are undamaged and handled safely.
3. Perform routine equipment maintenance such as changing and charging batteries, and checking tires. Report mechanical issues or damages to the supervisor.
4. Detect and report defective materials or unsafe conditions. Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area and equipment.
5. Conduct visual safety inspections of machinery before operation.
6. Load and unload trucks, and manage pallet stacking and consolidation.
7. Assist with inventory management, recording numbers and codes accurately.
8. Keep the dock area organized to ensure efficient workflow.
9. Complete and deliver daily and weekly reports to the floor supervisor.
10. Participate as a team member: Engage in team development, communication, and implementation of policies; attend meetings; promote cohesion and resolve issues collaboratively.
11. Simmons Operating Systems Principles: Understand and support Simmons' quality, security, and safety systems, and communicate concerns or improvement ideas.
12. Additional duties: Support business objectives as needed; maintain flexibility and creativity in responsibilities.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds from floor to shoulder level.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

Standard waterproof gloves, hearing protection, chemical-resistant apron and gloves, face shield, reinforced toe footwear.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

Ability to obtain and maintain forklift and pallet jack licenses.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

Preference for experience in poultry or food processing industries.
