Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc is seeking a Fork Truck Operator to join our Shipping Team at the Devens and Lunenburg facilities. Operate forklifts to load, unload, move, and stage materials, contributing to a fast-paced, high-volume operation.

Role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficiency in delivering products to customers; RF scanners, cycle counts, and documentation are part of daily duties. Training pay starts at $21.67/hour, then $25.11/hour plus shift differential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Basic math skills including decimals, fractions, and ratios.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and alternate shifts.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily forklift inspections and complete safety checklists before operating equipment.
• Safely transport raw materials, finished goods, and inventory throughout the facility.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area; proper material handling and storage.
• Load/unload trailers per customer requirements and standards.
• Use RF scanners to process receipts, returns, shipments, and inventory transactions.
• Verify counts and descriptions for incoming/outgoing materials; support production lines.
• Palletize, band, shrink-wrap, and document shipments accurately.
• Maintain warehouse and loading dock cleanliness; perform cycle counts.
• Handle propane tanks or batteries on forklift equipment safely.
• Support other departments and perform additional duties as assigned.
