Job summary

USG is seeking a forklift operator for its plant warehouse in Bridgeport, CT. The role involves loading and unloading with a forklift, accurately pulling and staging materials based on customer orders, and recording shipping data as required.

You will troubleshoot basic equipment and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives, with scheduling flexibility including overtime and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Able to safely operate a forklift in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to inspect and troubleshoot the forklift to maximize uptime.
• Ability to interpret verbal instructions and written orders.
• Ability to apply basic computer skills for data entry and reporting. Proficiency at accurately recording shipping data.
• Possess basic maintenance skills needed to help service equipment.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills needed with all co-workers.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety and housekeeping requirements within a plant warehouse setting.
• Operate forklift in the timely loading or unloading of finished product and raw materials to/from trucks/railcars, and from the production line.
• Interpret customer orders to pull, stage, load, and check materials in a manner that ensures accurate and timely shipment.
• Record shipping data and other results in the manner required.
• Troubleshoot and apply basic maintenance skills to help service equipment.
• Take an active role in plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required by supervision.
• Adaptable to scheduling requirements including shiftwork, overtime, weekends, etc. where applicable.
