Job summary

USG is seeking a forklift operator for our Bridgeport, CT plant. The role involves safely operating a forklift, loading and unloading materials, pulling and staging orders, and maintaining accurate shipping records.

The position requires attention to safety, the ability to troubleshoot basic forklift issues, and flexibility to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed. A strong team player who communicates well will thrive in this role.

Qualifications

  • Ability to safely operate a forklift in a manufacturing setting.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot forklift to maximize uptime.
  • Interpret verbal and written orders for material handling.
  • Apply basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
  • Proficiency in accurately recording shipping data.
  • Possess basic maintenance skills to service equipment.
  • Effective teamwork and communication with co-workers.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

  • Active role in all plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required by supervision.
  • Adaptable to scheduling requirements including shiftwork, overtime, weekends, etc. where applicable.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer orders so as to pull, stage, load, and check materials in a manner that ensures accurate and timely shipment.

  • Troubleshoot and apply basic maintenance skills to help service equipment.
  • Expected to take an active role in all plant safety and continuous improvement initiatives as required by supervision.
  • Adaptable to scheduling requirements including shiftwork, assignment of overtime, working weekends, etc. where applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Able to safely operate a forklift in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot the forklift to detect issues and maximize operational availability.
  • Ability to interpret verbal instructions and written documents such as customer orders.
  • Ability to apply basic computer skills required for data entry and reporting.
  • Proficiency at accurately recording shipping data.
  • Possess basic maintenance skills needed to help service equipment.
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills needed with all co-workers.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Hourly Pay: $22.38

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
