Job summary

Oak Harbor Freight Lines is hiring a Forklift Operator/Dock Worker to join our team. The role involves operating material handling equipment, accurate shipment counting, and maintaining thorough paperwork for deliveries.

We value dependability, the ability to work varied shifts, and strong communication with customers and dispatch. LTL experience is a plus, and a High School diploma or GED is preferred. Join our established, safety‑mocused team in a stable environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent strongly preferred.
• Previous warehouse or like experience strongly preferred.
• Forklift experience strongly preferred.
• Simple arithmetic, weight and/or measuring is required.
• Experience using tools, machines, and special equipment: hand truck, four-wheel dock cart, pallet jack, barrel truck, dock plates, load locks and/or rope is preferred.
• Ability to communicate in a positive, effective manner with customers, co-workers and dispatch/managers.
• Experience in an LTL operation preferred.
• Basic English language proficiency (reading, writing and verbal) is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate material handling equipment competently.
• Record exceptions in count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims.
• Manage paperwork: delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests; count freight; ensure hazardous material shipments are accurate; follow loading instructions.
• Regroup shipments as needed.
• Meet the company’s reliability standard, including dependability.
• Be available to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
