Position Purpose:

Warehouse associates are the foundation of our company's success. They work actively, safely, and independently to maintain the efficient flow of products through our distribution process, while ensuring quality standards. As a Forklift Operator, Non Formula, you will operate material handling equipment, such as a forklift, pallet jack, reach truck, etc.

The Forklift Operator, Non Formula transports incoming freight to inventory from staging areas for storage in the appropriate slots, on the multi-level racks in the assigned warehouse area, and replenishes/re-stocks pick slots in a timely manner, ensuring all safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and quality standards are met, and to maintain the efficient flow of the production process. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Locates proper slot on storage racks, sets pallets in place with forklift or hand stack items, enters product data and location into appropriate system. Locates and performs count check of incoming freight in the staging area and transports to freezer with forklift/pallet jack.
  2. Replenishes pick slots with outgoing stock items according to next day's work orders. Rotates date-sensitive stock to the front of the rack and/or removes outdated inventory according to company policy.
  3. Disperses over-stocked items to available slots for temporary storage.
  4. Removes empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to the proper area or receptacles. Inspects empty pallets for damage, stacks, and moves pallets with pallet jack or forklift to the proper storage area.
  5. Follows all preferred work methods, safety policies, and procedures per company guidelines.
  6. Ensures work area is safe and reports any unsafe conditions and acts immediately.
  7. Reviews work schedule, performs safety check on equipment, obtains supplies required to perform the work, and prepares for operations.
  8. Uses all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear.
  9. Meets required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines.
  10. Works from receiving sheets, computer print-outs, established procedures, and instructions. Inspects items for damage, performs temperature and quality checks, and takes appropriate action as needed.
  11. Performs general housekeeping duties in work area as needed.
  12. Removes batteries requiring recharging, replaces with charged batteries, and completes vehicle inspection checklist.
  13. Secures all equipment and completes necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  2. 6+ months of warehouse and/or distribution work experience
  3. Ability to work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime
  4. Ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout shift. Able to lift, stack, and/or pull products off shelves, as well as replenish product, from various heights weighing between 10-35 pounds and generally up to 60-90 pounds depending on the location
  5. Ability to work in multi-temperature environments (cooler, freezer, dry)
  6. Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  2. 1+ years of warehouse and/or distribution work experience with motorized pallet jack or forklift
  3. Foodservice distribution or related industry experience
  4. Motorized pallet jack and/or forklift certification
