Job Description

- NIGHT SHIFT POSITION -

The Forklift Operator will transport incoming freight to inventory from staging areas for storage in the appropriate slots, on the multi-level racks in the assigned warehouse area, and replenish/re-stock pick slots in a timely manner. This ensures all safety and quality standards are met and maintains the efficient flow of the production process. The role functions as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities:

  1. Follow all preferred work methods, safety policies, and procedures per company guidelines. Ensure the work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions or acts immediately.
  2. Review work schedule, perform safety checks on equipment, obtain supplies required for work, and prepare for operations. Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear.
  3. Meet required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines.
  4. Work from receiving sheets, computer print-outs, established procedures, and practices, written and/or verbal instructions.
  5. Inspect items for damage, perform temperature and quality checks, and take appropriate action as needed.
  6. Locate proper slots on storage racks, set pallets in place with forklift or hand stack items, and enter product data and location into RF unit or handheld device.
  7. Replenish pick slots with outgoing stock items according to next day's work orders.
  8. Rotate date-sensitive stock to the front of the rack and/or remove outdated inventory according to company policy.
  9. Disperse over-stocked items to available slots for temporary storage.
  10. Remove empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to the proper area or receptacles.
  11. Inspect empty pallets for damage, stack, and move pallets with pallet jack or forklift to the proper storage area.
  12. Perform general housekeeping duties in the work area as needed.
  13. Remove batteries requiring recharging, replace with charged batteries, and complete vehicle inspection checklist.
  14. Perform other similar duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.
  15. At the end of the shift, secure all equipment, perform housekeeping, and complete all necessary paperwork.

  • 6+ months experience operating a forklift and/or ride-on electric pallet jack

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years warehouse and/or distribution work experience
  • Foodservice distribution or related industry experience
  • 1-2 years experience operating a forklift and/or pallet jack
  • Previous Forklift experience with PFG
