Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Forklift Operator/Material Handler to join our team. This role is critical to our warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced environment.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate forklifts (stand-up experience required) and other warehouse equipment (electric & manual pallet jack) safely and efficiently to move, load, unload, and store materials.
  • Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper documentation and secure placement of goods.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including hallways, coolers, docks, and production areas.
  • Keep product organized and storage areas orderly, maximizing space utilization and accessibility.
  • Perform daily pre-inspection checks on forklift and other equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety hazards.
  • Recharge electric vehicles daily, ensuring they are ready for use.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.
  • Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, such as receiving, stocking, and inventory control.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials handled and locations.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a wet environment with temperatures as low as 34-38 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, 40 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Physical demands include constant standing and frequent walking throughout the entire work shift.
  • Constant reaching above and below shoulder height, twisting, applying pressure, grasping, and loading machinery in a repetitive motion.
  • Constant fingering, fine manipulation, picking, and grasping.
  • Repetitive hand movements, including simple and power grasping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to maintain productivity requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to remember and communicate routine information.
  • Ability to organize thoughts and ideas.
  • Ability to apply common sense and make decisions.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to count accurately.
  • Ability to hear for safety and awareness.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.

Other Requirements:
  • Background screening is required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and days, including overtime, depending on operational demands.
  • Must be willing and able to perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods in a cold, wet environment.
  • The employee frequently uses hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a plant or manufacturing environment.
