About the Role
Curtis Lumber’s Forklift Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient handling, staging, and loading of building materials for customer and contractor deliveries and pickups. The role is responsible for working effectively and efficiently to ensure operational efficiency while adhering to safety standards.
Starting pay ranges from $23.00–$25.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Material Gathering: Collect various building materials according to invoices or orders.
- Loading and Securing: Load materials onto delivery trucks and secure them properly.
- Staging: Organize and stage materials effectively for delivery.
- Quality Control: Select materials of appropriate quality and inspect for defects.
- Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and notify relevant supervisors of out‑of‑stock items.
- Shrink Management: Utilize proper procedures to manage damaged or surplus materials.
- Receiving: Prepare for and unload incoming materials efficiently, reporting any variances.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and ensure the safe use of equipment.
- Yard Maintenance: Keep the work area neat and clean.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials received, issued, and in stock.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous forklift experience.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks.
- Equipment Operation: Comfortable operating forklifts and other machinery.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately pick and stage material.
- Communication Skills: Effectively communicate with team members and supervisors.
