Job Title: Forklift Operator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Shipping & Receiving

Reports to: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Position Summary

The Forklift Operator will operate an industrial forklift/reach truck to accomplish various materials handling assignments. Performs tasks including receiving, filling, shipping, and inspecting orders accurately and timely; efficiently loads, unloads, and conveys materials. Various skill levels are indicated below.

Responsibilities
  1. Identify and transport requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage areas.
  2. Obtain production schedules and shipping orders; verify and transport raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
  3. Understand machine loading capacity and schedule to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of items.
  4. Use protective materials and strapping equipment to secure loads; remove strapping and wrapping upon delivery, and dispose of waste materials properly.
  5. Report any issues with materials or transportation to the supervisor.
  6. Perform other related duties as requested.
Qualifications

Level One Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely operate reach trucks and other equipment as required.
  • Perform physical inventory requests.
  • Print and label SAP tags properly.
  • Proficient with RF scan guns.
  • Material transfers in SAP.
  • Handle freezer put-away in SAP.
  • Cover pack-off tasks.
  • Basic proficiency in SAP.
  • Basic math, language, and reading skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing and office environment with moderate noise levels. Must be able to lift 40 lbs (wooden skid or pallet) and maintain focus and situational awareness.
