Job summary

XPO is seeking a Forklift Operator for the Afternoon Shift in Cookeville, TN. You will efficiently sort, load and unload freight, operate forklift and pallet jack, and secure trailers to ensure safe, on-time deliveries.

The role requires 18+ years of age, multi-shift flexibility, and may prefer dock/warehouse experience in LTL. Benefits include health, life and disability insurance, PTO, holidays, a 401(k) match and education assistance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Preference given to candidates with dock/warehouse and forklift experience in LTL environments, and experience loading/unloading trailers.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Use forklift and pallet jack to move goods safely.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools.
• Follow safety policies and operate on a non climate-controlled dock.
• Use handheld devices to scan and track shipments.

Minimum qualifications:

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator

• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry

• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment

• Experience loading and unloading trailers

• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight

• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift

• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies

• Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies

• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments

• Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods

Forklift Operators are required to:

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)

• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery

• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
