Job summary

XPO Logistics Freight Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator to join our dock team. You will efficiently sort, load, and unload freight using pallet jacks and forklifts while adhering to safety policies. The role requires flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends on a climate-uncontrolled dock.

Preferred candidates have dock/warehouse experience in transportation and forklift experience in freight/LTL environments, with strong attention to detail and a drive to succeed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Able to perform basic math calculations, with or without a calculator.
• Available for varying shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Dock/warehouse experience in transportation is preferred.
• Forklift experience in freight/LTL environments is preferred.
• Experience loading/unloading trailers and securing freight.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Use pallet jacks and forklifts, operating motorized and manual equipment as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers with appropriate tools and supplies.
• Follow safety policies to work in a safe, efficient manner.
• Use handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
• Work on a dock not climate-controlled for extended periods.

• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment

• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed

Pay, benefits and more:

• Expected pay range: $24.37 to $29.93/hour. Pay is on an annual step progression. Actual compensation may vary due to factors such as experience and skill set
• Shift: Afternoon
• Full health insurance benefits are available on day one

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
• Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
• Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods

Forklift Operators are required to:

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
