Responsibilities

• Convey materials to designated areas and assist in routing.
• Secure lifting attachments and communicate with crane operators as needed.
• Record inventory movements and ensure accuracy.
• Inspect forklift daily and operate equipment safely.

The Role

Great Plains Mfg is seeking an experienced 1st shift Forklift Operator at our facility in Ellsworth, KS.

This position works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with overtime on Fridays as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, forklift, hoist or crane.
• Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
• Secure lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signal crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
• Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet or computer while maintaining accurate inventory quantities.
• Attach identifying tags or labels to materials; mark information on cases, bales, or other containers.
• Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together.
• Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist; clean work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
• Assemble crates to contain products, such as parts or products, using handtools and precut lumber.
• Understanding and use of AS400 and RF units to find location of parts, routing, product structure and parts availability.
• Assist in receiving of parts from vendor and route truck.
• Assist with cycle counts as needed.
• Daily inspection and safe operation of forklift.
• Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
