MAT Holdings, Inc. (MAT HD) in Rome, GA is hiring a Forklift Operator for the 1st Shift. The wage starts at $18.50 per hour with overtime opportunities. Hours are 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, at 113 Hemlock St., Rome, GA 30161.

The role focuses on safe material movement in day-to-day production, using a hand-held scanner and stretch-wrap machine, while supporting logistics, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives. A forklift license and RF scanner experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to calculate figures using basic math.
• Must have or be able to obtain a forklift license.
• Two years forklift and RF scanner experience preferred.
• Willingness to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
• Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety inspection of forklift before operation.
• Operate forklift safely and efficiently; support logistic operations.
• Use hand-held scanner and stretch-wrap machine as needed.
• Notify technicians when forklift service is required.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace; follow safety guidelines.
• Assist with additional duties assigned by supervisor.

Job Description

The Forklift Operator ensures the proper movement and storage of products and materials during day-to-day production in accordance with operations strategies and goals that maximize the company's profits by improving efficiencies and cutting costs. It actively seeks opportunities for improvement to ensure maximum company performance. It works with other team members to create and maintain a safe, organized working environment/culture that meets/exceeds MAT HD—Rome facility standards and customer expectations.

• Performs daily safety inspection of forklift before operating to ensure safety.
• Takes proper safety and precautionary measures when operating machinery.
• Supports essential logistic operations through storage and transportation.
• Notifies technicians in advance when forklifts are in need of service.
• Performs work under direct supervision with a basic understanding of equipment.
• Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Operate hand-held scanner and stretch-wrap machine.
• Comply with all company safety guidelines and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Other duties assigned by manager/supervisor
