Job summary

Pratt Industries, Hammond location is seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator for the 1st shift. Mon-Fri, 6:00am–2:30pm, starting pay $16.00 per hour. The role involves moving materials, maintaining inventory records, basic equipment maintenance, and housekeeping to ensure a safe, efficient plant environment.

You will work in a safety‑focused, team‑oriented atmosphere with opportunities for growth, training, and development within Pratt Industries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in corrugating industry, forklift operation, or working with warehouse management systems preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, multitasking, and time management skills.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
• Lift Truck Operator License (must be maintained).

Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety and operational guidelines to ensure a safe working environment and Pratt Forklift Certification.
• Quality Assurance: Maintain a high level of attention to detail to prevent damage.
• Operational Efficiency: Support general operations by performing duties efficiently and accurately.
• Training & Development: Participate in training programs to stay up to date with procedures and safety protocols.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Maintain accurate records and ensure equipment maintenance is completed.
• Flexibility & Teamwork: Support coworkers in various tasks and be available for weekend shifts.

Starting Pay Rate: $16.00/Hr

As a Forklift Operator at Pratt Industries – Hammond, you will play an essential role in maintaining the flow of materials by moving various sized units and products to the correct staging areas. You will also maintain accurate records of inventory locations, perform basic equipment maintenance, assist with general operations, and ensure housekeeping duties are completed. You will work in an environment where safety is a top priority and will have opportunities to grow in a supportive team-oriented atmosphere.

What You’ll Need to be Successful:

• Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Candidates with previous experience in the corrugating industry, forklift operation, or working with warehouse management systems are preferred.
• Basic Troubleshooting: Ability to identify maintenance needs and take appropriate action.
• Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, multitasking, and time management skills. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift materials. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
• Certifications: Lift Truck Operator License (must be maintained).
